INDUSTRIAL GASES FOR MANUFACTURING & MATERIALS PROCESSING

Argon
Argon is used in additive manufacturing for the production of powder metals. Argon is also injected into molten aluminum to remove impurities for higher quality product.

Oxygen
Oxygen is used to enrich air and increase combustion temperatures in furnaces. It is also used to create a hot flame in high-temperature welding torches and to support oxy-fuel cutting operations.

Hydrogen
Hydrogen can be used in its pure form and in various gas mixtures for sintering, brazing, annealing, powder coating, metal injection molding and as a protective and reducing atmosphere.

Helium
Helium can provide an inert protective atmosphere for the manufacturing of fiber optics and semiconductors. It can cool parts quickly, control the heat transfer rate, and function as a carrier gas during production.

Nitrogen
A pure nitrogen atmosphere provides blanketing for heat treated parts and can be used to purge an existing furnace atmosphere. It can also be used as a carrier gas for carbon-controlled atmospheres.

Acetylene
Acetylene is the only fuel gas that can be used for welding. It is also ideal for heat treatment applications such as brazing, spot heating, hardening, cleaning, and thermal spraying.
INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS FOR MANUFACTURING AND MATERIALS PROCESSING
Annealing
Annealing is the process of heating steel above the transformation temperature and slowly cooling it to increase the workability of the metal. Nitrogen or hydrogen-based atmospheres are needed for a bright annealed surface finish.
Furnace Brazing
Furnace brazing is commonly used when large batches of parts are to be processed at one time. We provide a reducing atmosphere to help you produce higher quality joints, with controlled heat temperatures and improved production rates.
Carburizing & Hardening
Carburizing is a heat treatment process in which steel absorbs carbon while the metal is heated. Our technology provides ideal conditions for better control and repeatability.
Gas Quenching & Inerting
Furnace inerting and parts quenching are common heat treating applications. We offer gases in a variety of supply systems to meet your process requirements.
Sintering
The sintering process uses compressed metal or ceramic powders to form various shapes. Our atmospheric gases help achieve a consistent performance for your sintering operation.Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP)
Proper atmosphere control is key in hot isostatic pressing. The simultaneous application of high temperature and pressure, plus PCE’s argon or nitrogen gas, helps improve the metal’s mechanical properties.Nitriding & Nitrocarburizing
Nitriding and nitrocarburizing can help you increase surface wear resistance. This requires a safe and reliable supply of ammonia in order to achieve excellent process results.Aluminum Die Cooling
Nitrogen-based cooling can help with temperature control in extrusion and dross cooling applications, increase your aluminum recovery rate and maximize productivity potential.Additive Manufacturing
Process gases play a vital role in additive manufacturing and are involved in every step of the fabrication chain – from metal powder production through 3D printing.
Concrete Manufacturing
At PCE, we have the resources to provide you with the most advanced concrete block production process, while reducing your carbon footprint.
